Are you planning for your upcoming dental visit? The more prepared you are, the smoother your check-in process and appointment will be. Here are the top things we recommend putting on your checklist for your next dental visit!

  1. Have Your Documents Ready
  2. When you check in at the dentist, you will be asked for an up-to-date driver’s license or ID card and an up-to-date insurance card. Make sure you have both ready and with you at the time of your appointment so that you don’t have to reschedule your visit.

  3. Decide How You’ll Pay
  4. Patients with dental insurance can check with their provider to understand their plan’s benefits and coverage. This will help you anticipate if there will be any out-of-pocket costs at your visit. If you don’t have insurance, go over your dentist’s financial options to see which one best suits your needs.

  5. Gather a List of Questions
  6. Write down any questions you have beforehand about your oral healthcare, especially if you’re visiting the dentist because you have an oral health concern. You may feel nervous, anxious, or distracted once you’re at the office which can cause you to forget the things you wanted to ask. If you have them written down, you can navigate your appointment with ease and get your questions answered.

  7. Review Your Health History & Current Medications
  8. As a new patient, your dental team will want to have an overview of your health history. Take some time to think back on any procedures, diagnoses, and long-standing oral health conditions. We also recommend gathering a medication list so that your dentist has a full understanding of what medications you’re on.
