Damaged teeth aren’t the end of the world! Restorative dentistry can restore and repair your teeth to help you regain a healthy, fully-functioning smile. One of our most popular and versatile restorative treatments is CEREC® dental crowns. With CEREC, we can repair your smile in a single visit.
What Are CEREC Same-Day Crowns?
The traditional crown process required messy impressions and a waiting period as your crown was made by an off-site lab. CEREC is a revolutionary technology that allows dentists to create and place dental crowns in a single visit. Dentists use advanced 3D software and an on-site milling unit to efficiently complete the process. The crowns are made out of durable tooth-colored ceramic and designed to look just like your other teeth. They are hollow inside so are permanently cemented over the top of your existing tooth.
Why Would I Need a Dental Crown?
Crowns can be used to fix:
- Cracked, chipped, and broken teeth
- Misshapen and/or worn-down teeth
- Missing teeth by attaching to dental implants
- Severe tooth discoloration
- Weakened teeth after root canal therapy
The CEREC Process
At your crown appointment, your dental team will gently remove a layer of enamel to prepare the tooth for the crown. Then, they will take precise, digital impressions of the tooth so that the completed crown can fit snugly over the top. After the impressions are done and the scans are complete, your dental team utilizes smile preview software to design and construct a 3D model of your new crown. The crown design is sent to the on-site milling unit, which will fabricate your permanent crown. Before using cement, your dentist will place your new crown in place to ensure it fits properly and comfortably. Then, they will bond the crown onto your tooth.
